Description

This person is responsible for the safety of all members, guests, and staff in the Welsh Center facility and the security of the building. The Facility Monitor is an ambassador for the Welsh Center and the YMCA and should ensure high standards of customer service.

Responsibilities

1. Provide a safe, supervised environment that fosters positive values and respect.

2. Check-in program participants, those renting the facility or guests. Ensure registration and payment has been made.

3. Set-up and tear down equipment as needed for a program or rental.

4. Ensure that all members, guests, and staff follow the Welsh Center and YMCA’s Code of Conduct.

5. Communicate and build rapport with all participants and guests in the facility.

6. BE A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL AT ALL TIMES!

7. Offer positive redirection of negative behaviors and fill out Behavior Incident Report as needed.

8. Refrain from using cell phone while working in all capacities, ie. talking, texting, or surfing the internet.

9. Respond to all emergency situations as per the YMCA’s safety and risk protocol. Follow the “Crisis Management” plan if necessary.

10. Fill out incident/accident reports and notify the Director of Operations as soon as possible.

11. Give facility tours to interested parties.

12. Monitor the facility throughout the shift, checking all rooms/areas of the building for litter, or hazards such as wet floors. Perform general clean-up and empty trash cans.

13. Open/close the facility as per established hours. Make sure the facility is empty and locked at closing time.

14. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Program Director.

15. Notify the Program Director and find coverage when you are not able to work.

16. Attending various staff trainings.

Qualifications

Dedication to the YMCA and its mission

  • Be currently certified in CPR, AED, and First Aid or willing to attain certification.
  • Obtain necessary clearances.
  • Attend YMCA New Employee Orientation
  • Have experience and is comfortable working with people of all ages and abilities.
  • Possess good communication skills, basic computer skills and be willing to learn the YMCA computer system for programming, rentals, registrations, and payments.
  • Be flexible and be able to multi-task.
